Review of Factotum (2005) by Ben G — 02 Oct 2008
Absolute bullshit. Failed miserably in capturing the true essence of Bukowski. Matt Dillon was limp and unconvincing, the dialogue felt like it was being read straight from an Auto Q, Lili Taylor as Jan was totally forgettable.. had no acting skills, the scenes where he left in a heated debate she just sat there pathetically sipping her drink not even in a "beat" kinda way.. it was embarrassing that such a legendary writer could be portrayed by such complete listless morons.
To not manage to make a great movie with some of the best books on earth at your helm shows you must be a pathetic director. Absolute rubbish.
Also hated how it was set in modern america and not back when it was written.
