Review of Fanny and Alexander (1982) by Jeff B — 02 Jun 2007
It was the 5 hour version that I watched, I can't imagine what 2 hours were taken out of the theatrical version. What a beautiful film. All of the actors were great and the characters were all very memorable.
However, the problem is, if my friends were to ask me what the movie's about, I wouldn't know what to tell them. I haven't seen too many of Bergman's films, but this is my favorite. That final scene with Alexander was so perfect, I loved it.
A really great film, even if most of the time watching it I was wondering why it wasn't just called "Alexander".
