No it wasn't Harry Potter and it wasn't nostalgic. But, it did try to create its own place in the wizarding world - and I quite enjoyed it. Great acting, and beautiful sequences. However, the pacing was a bit weak, and sometimes they focused too much on the wrong things (e.
G the beasts, while fun, dummed down the movie quite a bit), I wish they had kept in more low-key/not as in your face with all the magic. I missed the delicacy of magic from the harry potter books/movies I will admit that I missed the mystery of it.
But that said, It was an enjoyable movie and I will be looking forward to the next few sequels. As long as they hold up a standard, and don't try to blindly please fans with magic gimmicks but focus on relationships and character building.
