Review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) by Michael D — 16 Nov 2018
The movie was entertaining. The visuals were stunning and many of the characters are incredibly compelling. Unfortunately the movie relied too heavily on exposition to help the audience keep up with the plot.
Time with the characters that we came to love from the first movie was cut short in an attempt to introduce new characters that didn't provide the same emotional connection. Johnny Depp was wonderfully compelling as Grindelwald and Jude Law helped recapture the magic of Dumbledore that was lost after the passing of Richard Harris.
This movie hopefully helped to set up more interactions involving these characters with the original foursome in movies to come because those character interactions were the highlights of this film. I have a feeling this movie, much like the original Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, will be more enjoyable each time I view it.
I'd give this move a B.
