An exciting opening sequence raised my hopes, but the excessive use of whizz-bang special effects and the convoluted plot were a turn off and I nearly nodded off a few times. It lacked the magic, characterisation and humour of the Harry Potter films and, in the end, I was glad that it was all over.
Only Rowling fanatics need apply.
