Review of Far from the Madding Crowd (2015) by Rosemary H — 30 Dec 2015
I have all 3 adaptations of this Thomas Hardy epic novel and it's the only one in which I would have chosen Boldwood above the other 2 feeble characters. In making Bathsheba such a strong modern character it was impossible for me to believe she would have chosen the weak unattractive 'wooden' soldier.
Thd film danced about inexplicably also. Anyone not knowing the story would have been totally puzzled.
