This another one of those great period comming of age films.(see American Grafitti, Dazed and Cofused. Set in the 80's in so-cal, this film deals with some pretty tough issues like teen pregnancy. The cast was pretty cool too, Sean Penn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Judge Reinhold, Forrest Whittaker, Eric Stotz and Phoebe Cates to name a few.
