Review of Fast X (2023) by Nnogohko — 05 Jun 2023
The action sequences are impressive and some of the character interactions are fun. Even though I think this is better than F9 this isn't a massive improvement either. The plot is just unengaging and I was bored in majority between the action scenes.
It doesn't help that everyone is split apart for almost the entire film. The fun group vibe present through Fast Five and Fate of the Furious is gone and I think the biggest problem is that its not really fun.
Jason Momoa is great as an over the top villan and steals every scene he is in. I really liked the chemistry between John Cena and the Dom's son. The Tyrese and Ludacris banter isn't funny this time around unfortunately.
Jason Statham and injects some much needed energy during his unfortunately short screen time. Daniela Melchoir and Diesel has one dramatic scene that I thought was very touching. The rock and Statham is sorely missed in the main franchise.
