Review of Finding Dory (2016) by Boom R — 18 Oct 2018
A total flop -there should have never been a sequel. As it stand-alone movie, it might be okay, but as a continuation of a beautiful and meaningful first movie, it was quite a disappointment. Many things it did were copies of Finding Nemo, many characters brought in, in hope of nostalgia and remembrance of the far better predecessor Making a secondary, comic relief character the main character yet again -and it proves to be rather annoying.
We've gone through the whole first movie with Marlin's character development, as he learns to trust and let go and love. All of that leaves when he becomes the same paranoid, untrusting character he was in the first for the sake of more story.
New characters were rather bland -some of them okay, but I failed to see the meaning. We come from a story of a father who risked his life to find his son to two parents who sat and waited for years for there disabled daughter to return to them.
Not a lot of character development, and a huge let-down from the original. Walked out of the theatre very disappointed. Entertaining, yes, and the storyline and characters weren't too bad, merely a story of a daughter travelling to find her parents who never bothered to truly look for her.
