Review of Fire and Ice (1983) by Jonathan B — 21 Nov 2010
Intriguing but ultimately flawed animated sword and sorcery epic in which an evil wizard named Nekron is laying wasted to the land with a huge glacier and horde of subhuman warriors. When he kidnaps the princess of Volcano-based Fire kingdom, a young hero named Larn and a mysterious but deadly warrior named Darkwolf join forces to defeat the evil wizard.
Great production design from the late fantasy maestro Frank Frazetta and some exciting action pieces help this otherwise generic fantasy story, but the nondescript characters and flat, rotoscoped animation bring down this odd entry.
