Review of Flatliners (2017) by Travis H — 29 Sep 2017
Flatliners - A supposed horror movie filled with characters with absolutely no redeeming qualities who kill each other to see what's on the other side. One by one these med school students kill each other, only to be brought back to life by their friends, bringing with them some unknown force from beyond that tries to kill them in the real world.
An intriguing premise, but there are no real scares in the entire movie. With the possible exception of the cocky, semi-hot doctor with a even hotter body (James Norton), I found myself not caring if any of them survived.
I didn't even really care about him, he was just kind of nice to look at. I remember seeing the original back in 1990 starring a young, up and coming Julia Roberts. It was decent, but somewhat forgettable.
The new one is just forgettable. It's one of those movies that you might watch if you're home bored late at night and there's nothing on the television. If you haven't seen the original, watch it instead.
