Review of Frank (2014) by Tim M — 30 Mar 2017
Frank is about a man wearing a paper mache head, not named Mr. Met. It follows the a band, who gains a key board player Jon (played by Domhnall Gleeson) and their quest for stardom. It's not that simple however as they gain their fame online on social media and the band members who Jon merges with are mostly mentally ill.
I'll give director Lenny Abrahamson credit. He took a risk, but it didn't pay off for me. I never found myself attached to the characters or rooting for them or caring about them. The acting is fine and the film has moments, but in the end staring at a giant head didn't cut the mustard.
