Review of Free State of Jones (2016) by Blake R — 11 Sep 2016
Bummed this has missed the limelight, because it is powerful and worth a watch. If you have a heart and believe in freedom, this movie will upset you at times and make you cheer at times. It is this emotional tug of war that often makes a movie great. I removed on star because there are moments in the third act where it can be confusing to follow the story. However, as is popular today, critics wrongly bash this film for no reason. Not sure what is going on with critics these days, but if you are wondering the same thing, know that this film is certainly worth a watch if you have any interest in period films.
I highly recommend that people take much more stock in the audience score going forward. It is a much better gauge of which movies are enjoyable and entertaining.
