Review of Funeral Parade of Roses (1969) by Henri L — 06 Jun 2008
Weird and fascinating Japanese new wave movie about transvestites in search of identity in post-war wersternized Tokyo. Kind of arty and not the easiest accessible movie but not boring at all. Stimulating with some more than memorable scenes, this seems as fresh today as ever.
The langauge is top notch. There are better surreal movies out there though. Still recommended. Definitely. If for nothing else then just to see what inspired Kubrick to make "Clockwork Orange".
