Gangs of New York is a chaotic film that is strengthened above reproach by the great Leonardo Dicaprio and the infallible, unbelievable, indescribable Daniel Day Lewis. The film is great and has more character and style than I care to mention but to see a master like Day Lewis work his magic in every scene is a pleasure beyond belief.
He towers over this film turning what could have been a messy revenge story into a true epic and taking this film up from the streets on New York and into the heavens.
