Review of Ghajini (2005) by Amit D — 30 Dec 2008
What are the key elements of a total entertainer especially if it is a remake of a South Indian movie which in turn is partially based on a classic made by a creative genius like Christopher Nolan? After watching Ghajini I had just one answer- Aamir Khan.
This man's brilliance makes you overlook the many flaws in it. It is way better than the wonderful Tamil original which had much more unnecessary violence. Aamir easily scores over Surya, who played the lead in that movie.
Asin is brilliant but is not exactly top notch, she was way better in the Tamil version. I felt Anushka Sharma in 'Rab Ne..' was much better. I hardly expected anything from Jiah Khan, but I feel she did a decent job of her role and looked quite good too.
The other major performance was given by Pradeep Villian who is absolutely superb as the villain in this entertainer. A.R. Rahman's music is good, if not superb and the cinematography is great. The direction could have been a little better.
Watch it for Aamir, you will have no complaints.
