Though it came afterwards, Ghost in the Shell, I believe, is an even bigger accomplishment and feat of animation and storytelling in anime than even Akira.
I enjoyed this one far more than I did the abovementioned, and that's saying something. I can esspecially give a big hand to the Major. In my opinion, she is one of the greatest female characters ever to be created.
