Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by Christian H — 22 Apr 2017
Inspite of the negative hype surrounding this movie, it's actually a fun movie to watch. Yes there are some stupid casting choices, but Scarlett Johansson isn't one of them. She works really well in this role, and having her character as a European makes the disconnect between the "real her" and the Major, work really well.
Having the big bad executives and scientists as European, makes less sense, but may have something to do with constantly casting the bad guys as a foreigners. Their performance was in keeping with the movie, so I can't really complain about the job they did.
The movie kept the pace up, action sequences were fun, and as most commenters say, the visuals are stunning, very William Gibson, Philip K. Dick vibe, I enjoyed it, and would recommend it happily. Go see it with an open mind, and be prepared for a visual delight, with an enjoyable storyline.
