Why is it called Gretel and Hansel as opposed to Hansel and Gretel which is the name that it has always been. Well, me being the naive individual that I am, thought that it might be because there are so many other iterations of the story that the creators wanted to have the work stand out.

Nope, it is because the people that made this are preachy, obnoxious, and hardcore feminists. I shut it off after ten minutes but let me summarize that time for you. The film starts with a backstory about the witch in the woods.

I instantly was disappointed because the mystery of where the witch came from was always a great part of the story. It wasn't a big deal though, I still had hope. Then we get to Gretel, the main character, she has an American accent, which clashes with every other character's accent.

I never imagined that something so small could be so off putting; I immediately noticed it. Then we have Gretel try to get a housekeeping job with some nobleman of sorts. Of course it didn't go well, he was a white man; obviously he is evil.

After he demands that she calls him "milord", tells her to keep her to basically keep her mouth shut, and then implies that she will be a prostitute, she departs. Gretel and Hansel subsequently get kicked out of their mother's home.

They shack up in an abandoned house, where some degenerate attacks them. Luckily, they are saved! By a bowman in the distance....a black bowman....in Germany.....in medieval times. I shut it off right then and there.

I already knew what kind of film it was and I didn't care to watch any more of it. Forced diversity that detracts from the immersion of the film; I have seen this before. I love the Grimm tales. This story was an amazing opportunity for the filmmakers and they ruined it.

If I could give it less than 0 I would.
