Whereas Guardians 1 was fresh, funny, charming and took itself none too seriously, this hotchpotch is all over the shop. A vast budget for FX has been thrown at the scree without much rhyme or reason and dollops of gloop have been added to the already chaotic mix and yet somehow The Guardians still survive as an appealing outfit.
