Review of Guess Who (2005) by Timeofthechimps — 13 Mar 2014
A movie is not going to get me to like it by: A) Targeting a particular group of people and criticising them because of circumstances beyond their control, or B) Having characters who do not make realistic decisions. This movie does and has both. (Keep in mind, I do not care about the original.).
Being called "birdsh*t" due to circumstances I have no control over isn't fun. There are so many cracks at Ashton Kutcher being white that it makes me want to vomit. Bernie Mac's character makes absolutely no sense: Why does he like Jeff Gordon so much, but not Ashton Kutcher's character?
This brings me to my next point, and it's the overly stupid characters.
Why doesn't Simon stop with the racist jokes? Is he even aware of the people he is surrounded by? Why doesn't Simon just up and leave after having to deal with all this bs?
The movie is great for the first 5 to 10 minutes, then it falls flat on its face. Avoid this racist piece of trash at all costs. 0/10.
