Review of Guess Who (2005) by Chris F — 19 Dec 2011
I've seen this movie more than 10 times, and it keeps getting better each and every time. Bernie Mac is amazing, and this movie proves it. The whole cast is amazing! If i'm not mistaken, this is an adaptation of the movie Sidney Portier was in called "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" - a very lose adaptation on it, but with the same scenario.
Black girl and white guy fall in love. Black girl brings him to meet her parents. Dad's a hard ass, and doesn't give him a fair shot. Over the course of the movie though, the 2 bond, and form a really close relationship, and is ok with the whole thing.
Tons of misadventures in this movie ensue - everything from a go cart race that ends up in the streets - to awkward black jokes. Family friendly, although there are some "bad words" in there, as well as some racism thrown in the mix - but, not enough to classify as horribly racist.
Honestly, i'm glad to have this movie go down in history with Bernie Mac and his legacy. This is one movie that you'll end up loving, and watch over and over again - just like I have!
