Rare flub for the Coens. Lifeless, muddled, uneven, wasting talent galore -- there are some amusing moments (the commie actor's dog naned Engels and other in-jokes), but whatever the appeal on paper of a satire or homage to the old studio system, it just doesn't hang together.
Avoid.
