Review of Hail, Caesar! (2016) by Will T — 01 Jan 2018
Although it's decked out with a bedazzling and eccentric cast of actors and characters alike, something seems to be amiss in the Coen brothers ode to the post-war Golden Age of Hollywood. Laden with the outlandish and dually abstract-meets-realism which is very dominant and present in both story and visuals, it's a film that is both spectacular in appearance, yet surprisingly inconclusive in its overall plot progression and story.
Not inconclusive enough to be disappointing, but just enough to raise eyebrows.
