Review of Halloween (2007) by Brian S — 05 May 2018
I remember seeing the original Halloween from 1978 a long time ago, but thinking that it was an admirable film, and a pioneer of horror and independent cinema. And, obviously, this remake isn't going to be as memorable.
It pumps up the bloody killings, something the original didn't show as much, but overall, it's very uninspired and full of slasher cliches, and the ending is pretty plain. It just tried to make money.
But, on the bright side, if you're just looking for any horror diversion, this one is actually well made, the actors are believable, and the movie can actually be very dark and tense sometimes. And the film contains tones of small appearances from Rob Zombie's favorites, like Sid Haig, Danny Trejo or even Sheri Moon Zombie.
A horror pic to watch with an open mind, it could entertain you.
