Review of He Was a Quiet Man (2007) by Tyler H — 28 Dec 2010
Notwithstanding an electrifying performance from Christian Slater, 'He was a quiet man' fails to impress. Maybe its the lack of a decent supporting cast? The usually excellent William H Macy simply phones in a performance and Elisha Cuthbert, though pretty, simply lacks the acting chops to pull off her role effectively. Christian Slater is virtually unrecognisable in his role and is utterly believable and is the only reason to watch it. The plot is scarily plausible and the script is good, with wonderful touches of surrealism effected with a talking fish.
The cinematography is equally effective and the ending is shockingly predictable.
