Review of Heaven Is for Real (2014) by Brandon W — 01 Oct 2016
While it is an extraordinary story, it's not movie material for it. It's still good, but there's not much story for it. There's some scenes that are just there to be enough runtime for the movie, they came out of nowhere and just have nothing to do with the movie at all.
The kid is all right, but there's better kid actors, like the kid from Looper, he should've been in this. Heaven Is for Real is well acted though with Greg Kinnear being the best part of the movie.
If they want to make enough runtime for this, they could've focus on Greg Kinnear's character with his problem between God and him. It seems important for the storyline, but the movie didn't focus much on it and made it felt a little pointless.
It was nice to see them going a little bit to another extraordinary story even though that it wouldn't affect the movie at all if it wasn't there at all besides making the movie shorter. Heaven Is for Real is flawed, but interesting movie that the actors saved the movie from being a dud.
