Review of Hell in the Pacific (1968) by Cha T — 15 Nov 2008
Came highly recommended (esp w/Toshiro Mifune)-even believed Leonard Malton's (r.i.p.) review that this tale of a stranded american and japanese soldier stranded on an island in the pacific would be "gripping"-as they taunt and play mind games for survival.
But for the most of the movie-it was almost comically sad for what it could have been. But, THE END! THE MOST BRAVE CRITICISM OF ETHNOCENTRIC WESTERNERS EVER! And just for that-it's shelved as a favourite.
