Review of Hellraiser (2022) by Renovatia — 07 Nov 2022
The original canon has been abandoned and is replaced by something nonsensical and ambiguous. So the person that gets cut is taken to Hell as sort of a payment. It doesn't seem to bother who "solves" the puzzle box. But who exactly gets the "prize"? Initially it was Voight because he was the owner - what other reason could there be, because he didn't solve the puzzle. But after Voight, what are the rules? Who gets the configuration prize, and based on what rules?
And finally, suppose the owner solves the puzzle but also cuts himself and is therefore taken to hell as payment. Now what? Who gets the configuration prize? Nobody is there! Unless there's some exception. But the point is that this movie tries to introduce a rule-based puzzle box world, yet does not provide sufficient rules to make it comprehensive. Instead, this movie appears to do whatever is convenient.
The pleasure box is no longer a mystery. It has become deterministic and nihilistic; When the old style Cenobites were summoned, they would investigate the reason. And based on what they find, they would provide their own interpretation where they do not show to know the difference between pleasure and pain. Now that approach has content! And that has been killed off now.
The executives don't care for such things. This resulted in incoherence of the world in this movie.
This movie only exists to promote wokeness and to destroy more culture from the west.
Soon enough you'll see two gay men in bed, Pinhead is played by a transsexual (it actually makes sense but don't think for a second that "making sense" is the reason they did this) and... if you look closely at the end, you'll see a golden statue of a man with his head down and arms spread. What does it resemble? Baphomet! This image is shown in multiple scenes where the statue is seen in the background. Again, better believe this is on purpose.
Its depiction in a body of chrome was seen in Rihanna's music clip "Umbrella". See the half second frame at 2:46 in the clip.
The acting was often poor and often outright bad. The "scary" parts were too clean and clinical; The Cenobites resembled set pieces. The tiny bit of blood was unconvincing, the little bit of ripping of flesh looked outright cheap. This is a horror movie? The movie was way too tame for that.
Other effects were cheap too. The first fragments of the movie exist only to fulfill the woke-quota and is not needed for the story. The represented drug addiction was less than a shadow of what it really is. What was the point tangibly?
The characters were generic disposable cardboard items. Period.
I could give this flick a one star rating or two or three. What does it matter? An increasing number of people are waking up. I'm calling this rubbish out for over fifteen years in many movie reviews and I hope I contributed a little. But I feel my role as an insignificant person trying to wake up people is coming to an end. Hopefully it's for good reasons.
