Review of Hellraiser: Judgment (2018) by Lucas S — 08 Feb 2018
I went into this movie with an open mind. I wanted to like it and believed that maybe it would restart a dying and abused franchise. As a huge fan of the original creations of Clive Barker and the first Hellraiser movies in particular, I can say that this movie is so far away from all of the original magic and mythos.
The guy making it who was only a makeup artist in the later Clive-less sequels, likes to act like he knows and understand Clive's original visions but he hasn't got the first clue. This movie is proof.
It's badly written. It's unoriginal. It's downright laughable. And sorry but the guy currently filling Pinheads shoes, or whatever footwear Pinhead wears ?? It just doesn't work. It's mediocre Pinhead cosplay.
And before anyone compares it to Revelations, as someone so wonderfully put it on another review I read "Saying this one is better than the last one is like saying that pi**ing yourself is better than shi**ing yourself.
" A bad movie is still a bad movie. And guess what-because the clock will run out on the franchise holders again on 4-6 years, we have to do it all again. Please get the rights back to Clive and get the original people on board again or just don't do it at all.
