Hillbilly Elegy was not a perfect movie by any means but there were some excellent parts of this movie. Glenn Close and Amy Adams performances were exceptional, some of the best of the year. Gabriel Basso, Haley Bennett, and Owen Asztalos gave pretty great performances as well.
The makeup and hairstyling especially on Glenn Close and Amy Adams was remarkable. The costumes were pretty great as well. The writing was decent, the screenplay was pretty funny at times but others times it seemed over the top and cheesy specifically certain phrases Glenn Close said and the story was ok but didn't seem to tell the story clearly enough.
Overall his was a pretty entertaining movie that made me laugh but also had very deep emotional moments.
