Review of How to Be a Man (2013) by Christophe L — 10 Mar 2015
Started off good, but it turned out to be exaggerated and predictable. Alarms first went off at the extremely clichéd makeover-montage-while-the-other-person-sits-in-a-chair-in-the-middle-of-the-store-as-if-any-store-would-allow-that.
Decent characters although a bit one-dimensional and cookie cutter. The dialogue would've been good if they only stopped at the point where it goes from 'witty and fresh' to 'nobody talks like that'. I had a couple of sincerely loud laughs, but by the end it felt like eating through a cardboard box just to get to the m&m's in the middle, and then having to eat through the rest of the cardboard box.
Nice try and nice style, but it was very overcooked, the team has to find the right balance.
