Review of How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) by Sarfaraz A — 29 Jun 2015
This DreamkWorks 3D animation sequel to 2010 was written and directed by Dean DeBlois. Made over mere budget of $145million the movie has earned worldwide $618,909,935. Djimoun Hounsou and Cate Blanchett have together joined the trilogy. How to Train Your Dragon 2 was screened out of the competition at Cannes Film Festival.
It won Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film and several other nods from Academy Awards, Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards and so on. A third sequel is slated for 2018.
It is fast and does not allow any silliness to spoil its message and story. Animation is colorfully flawless - though there is dearth of jokes in it but we may ignore it as long as the film-story covers the seriousness a bit maturely. Go ahead and have a good time with Vikings-cum-dragon-fliers!
