Review of I Confess (1953) by Masorad ( — 02 Sep 2011
You don't buy Clift as a priest any more than you do as a boxer (Eternity) or cattle herder (Red River), but in the end it doesn't matter- his good looks demand that he be persecuted or (here) prosecuted.
The sacrosanctity of confession ostensibly delivers the drama & suspense in this film, but it's really about whether or not Clift gets his just deserts.
