Review of I, Daniel Blake (2016) by Private U — 29 Nov 2016
Ken Loach is well-known for his gritty portrayal of the struggles of everyday life in England. In this film he takes aim at the faceless bureaucratic machine that works to grind people into endless loops of confusion, poverty, and despair.
This is modern England with its mean, technocratic, dehumanising of people in need. Australia, take note, we are most of the way there. Must see.
