Review of I Was a Male War Bride (1949) by Masorad ( — 16 Dec 2010
Emasculating Cary Grant was routine fun in 30s and 40s reels, but IWAMWB is somewhat crude in its set-ups &, uh, lulz. With Leach as a Frenchman, the onslaught of feminizing situations play as middling comedy rather than a call for remilitarization had the male lead been a Yank.
This is war-weary yuks without the yucks.
