Review of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) by Shankfisher — 06 Jul 2023
This is a movie no one wanted. It was a terrible plot, poorly shot, and insulted the viewer at every turn. It's the Jungle Cruise effect that Disney tries every time. Ford's acting was fine, such as it was, but Phoebe Waller-Bridge is insufferable and lacks any charisma whatsoever.
Framing the US as the enemy in the film, as Nazis no less, was just an insult for a July 4th weekend film. It was boring, lacked practical effects, and looked artificial. There was some serious uncanny valley in almost every shot.
Mishandling this film and franchise, after so much fail with Star Wars, it is clear that Disney has reached a new low. It is a forgettable film that is poorly executed and poorly cast.
