Review of Inside (2007) by Amit P — 29 Apr 2008
Wrapping up my INSIDE double feature (even though I watched this one first, luckily because this movie wouldn't have come off as messed up had I seen it second). This movie is a good horror movie, and I good indie horror movie (not as good as Series 7).
Itâ??s not a blood and guts indie horror flick either, itâ??s a psychological one. Few psychological horror movies tend to be good, though as of recent with this and Joshua looks like they are on the up and up.
For a psychological horror film to work it needs to stick with you, not that I need a bath in bleach kind of stick (go watch the other INSIDE for that sort of feeling), but that sort of stuck in your teeth stick with you.
In that you donâ??t realize its there at first and then you have to start picking at it and trying to figure out what it is and wondering why its bothering you so much. Its that sort of film that when you watch it, you are like â??Well that wasnâ??t that messed up or scary.
â?? Then you think about it a day or two later and realize just how fucked up that was and how it could in all reality happen (just who Joshua was a realistic version of the Omen). Check out this small film, you'll understand why Flying Guy #2 from Heroes only has one look on his face (works well here, not in Heroes).
Also that kid was in Election which is where I remembered him from. Also Jeff Mahler I hear is some movie geek who put his money where his internet movie bitching on AICN (best site ever) is, so thatâ??s awesome.
Only thing I didn't like about this film was Kevin Kilner, I don't think he got what was going on, the mom was great but he wasn't that believable.
