No use resisting a wickedly mischievous and revealing doc that probes into the creation and impact of Deep Throat, the $25,000 little movie that could that ushered in the era of pornography. Long before the internet made it a synch to get porn, you had to go to grimy XXX movie houses. 1972's Deep Throat, directed by Gerard Damiano, brought porn into the mainstream. Couples would go see it, the New York Times dubbed it porn chic, and the film went on to gross more than $600 million. But a backlash was inevitable, and Nixon's white house had it shut down. This excellent doc from Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato (Party Monster) digs into Deep Throats sordid saga.

Deep Throat starred Linda Lovelace as a hottie who cannot have orgasms. An oral exam reveals that her clitoris is in fact in her throat, and so the doc remedies this by hitting her g-spot with his erect cock, in a scene inter-cut with footage of fireworks and rockets.

The movie is beyond hilarious, but it also screwed up just about everyone involved in making it. Lovelace, who passed away in 2002, claims her sex scenes were in fact rap, and Harry Reems, who played the doctor, tells of being prosecuted just for starring in it. There's also funny commentary from the likes of John Waters and Norman Mailer, who deftly illustrate how little has changed in the way of sexual censorship.
