Review of Interview with the Vampire (1994) by Deralac — 23 Oct 2022
I've read all the books and I liked the movie from the 90's and was looking forward to this series. I should have known better. This is another example of people who lack creativity demolishing the work of their betters.
They made numerous changes to the source material because of hubris. The changes in no way enhanced the story and often detract from it. I remember back in the 90's when I heard Tom Cruise was cast as Lestat and I laughed.
At the time I knew Cruise from Risky Business and Top Gun and could not see him pulling off Lestat. But I thought he did a decent job with the character. Not so with this version. This Lestat is flat and uninteresting.
In the 90's version Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas and a young Kirsten Dunst were also great. I don't like anyone from this version. This series is a waste of resources. It's just yuck.
