Review of It Came from Outer Space (1953) by Brian C — 08 Mar 2017
For its time I could see this as quite a scary movie...much like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. However, to modern audiences it is boring as a sci-fi movie.
However, as a character movie it is great. We get to see what humans can really be like. The aliens are benevolent, and just want to repair their ship in peace then leave. Unfortunately they need to 'borrow' the likeness of some townsfolk so they can move around getting equipment and supplies without hindrance.
I really liked most of the characters, even if they were not likable people. The fear and paranoia of the humans was very well done too.
This movie is thematically the same as Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but with a polar opposite motivation on behalf of the aliens.
Definitely worth watching.
