Review of It Could Happen to You (1994) by Scott C — 31 Mar 2013
Unbelievable warmth emits from 'It Could Happen to You' a heartwarming tale that is somewhat believable, as, at the time, people like this existed and it could very well, happen to them. The chemistry between Cage and Fonda is real, it's not gimmick, romance in this genre can't be fake.
That's why when it is done right you end up with Titanic and Ghost. The cast were all lovable even characters you grow to hate still hold some of their charm. It's a story of freedom and equality.
I don't think I can describe how 'nice' the film is. Cage's and Fonda's relationship grows naturally, you feel their pain they suffer through media and people who you once trusted and an unexpected helper.
.. You feel their plight, you feel their kindheartedness, you feel their love. I did think that his result of the lottery was ultimately revealed quick quickly, the rest of the story is faultless, it also makes you get out of your seat at some points because of the nastiness of some characters.
Charming music, charming visual style and a charming Nicolas Cage as Charlie Lang. Easily recommended.
