Review of It's Alive III: Island of the Alive (1987) by Dave C — 04 Oct 2008
The saga of the mutant babies continues, and Larry Cohen's message is as confusing as ever. Cohen clearly sympathizes with the parents who want their children to live despite their being a danger to nearly everyone who comes in contact with them, but it's hard, as a viewer to meet him there.
Then this movie adds an AIDS metaphor (no one wants to sleep with the father of a killer mutant, after all - it might be catching!) on top of the already strained abortion theme, seeming just to make sure you don't know what to think.
Michael Moriarty is as cool as always, though.
