Review of Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten (2007) by Tom G — 07 Feb 2010
Interesting film about the life of Clash frontman Joe Strummer. Gathered around campfires his friends and colleagues remember him, while radio interviews with Strummer himself provide a form of narration.
This is a fascinating examination of Strummer's life, and a celebration of a man at the forefront of such an important time in British history. It is also unafraid to look at some of his negative qualities, though this never becomes a hatchet job.
It's a shame there was no contribution from Paul Simonen.
