Review of Joy (2015) by Neville P — 30 Jan 2016
The rest of the Old Geezers Who Go To The Matinee Alone, and there were a lot of them, seemed to enjoy this; some applauded at the end. Me? Not so much. I really like Jennifer Lawrence and Robert DeNiro is wonderful as always.
The rest of the support cast is also very good. The movie is well put together with some innovative stuff going on, but at times it is distracting keeping track of flashbacks. Not really sure what my problem is here, but I was bored and wanted it to end.
I suspect that might be my addiction to action and violence, of which there is none, so that's more on me than the movie. Go to see Lawrence giving a great performance, but maybe the story, and length, might not work for you; it didn't for me.
