Review of Jurassic World Dominion (2022) by Nnogohko — 02 Sep 2022
The movie is very entertaining for the most part. The spectacle is there, some charm of the characters are there, and the action set pieces are very well done. This isn't really a 'Jurassic' movie however and that was fine with me.
It is purely more of an action adventure film. The first act is very messy but the Malta sequence in the second act is absolutely riveting. Michael Giacchino's score is fantastic as always especially during that Malta sequence.
I love the new Biosyn theme, as well as the Giganotosaurus motif. The visual effects are dazzling and the designs of the new dinosaurs are stunning as well. The Maisie Lockwood subplot is somewhat mediocre and doesn't have much weight unfortunately.
The movie is too long and some of the dialogue scenes with the Dodgson character as well as the main protagonists just drags sometimes. I saw it 3 times in the theaters already and I don't understand why people seem to dislike the film so much.
It's competently done popcorn entertainment and I really enjoyed the hell out of it.
