Review of Kebab Connection (2004) by Ole-Christian R — 02 Oct 2007
The film opens with some fun and inventive kung fu homages from the start, and gave me high expectations for the rest.
Too bad this is a German/Turkish co-production, which dictates that there has to be some kind of cross-cultural romance, where the islamic community doesn't approve, etc. etc. And it ends with a superclichéd birth like you've seen in every Hollywood movie ever.
The filmmakers obviously had the most fun doing the kung fu bits, so why not build a film around that instead of making yet another done-to-death cross-culture rom-com?
