Review of Kill List (2011) by Alejandro T — 20 Aug 2012
I have finally seen a film that deserves, fully, the descriptor "Arresting". While it starts like a steamroller, loud and slowly ambling along, it will, like a steamroller, not be stopped nor ignored as it crushes your expectations.
This has been said, by some, to be a thinking mans horror film (though it does have other genre elements) and perhaps rightly so, though I found a certain level of predictability in the story myself. Its delivery, however, is fresh and new and thanks to an ominous bit of "advice" from a "doctor" coupled with a superbly crafted look of.
..something on the leads face in the final shot, I gotta give a full 5 stars, despite a moment or two I may have sneered at. This one will leave some needing an immediate re-watch, others will take time to let what they have just seen unfold sink in while most will find themselves finally exhaling after having unintentionally held their breath for what might seem near record times.
Enjoy this folks. I did.
