Review of Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) by Pan C — 16 Mar 2013
Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a very interesting movie. Its a rare breed of movie that delivers us a special mix of cheesy monster effects blended with tolerable acting, some great special effects, and a twist of dark humor. The idea and plot are ludicrous at best, and the ideas within it are very laughable. But that's what makes this movie so great. Its dark and stylish and the really shows that the Chiodos brothers are at the top of their game.
The costumes and effects of the monsters look wonderful and are so vivid and colorful its spectacular. But enough of the look of it all.
I would like to say on the tagline of the DVD it states "In Space No One Can Eat Ice Cream" which is a parody of Alien. This film is packed with a few little nods to other movies including the beginning when the teens see a falling star which almost pays homage to the film "The Blob". The plot revolves around people who stumble upon a spaceship that resembles a big top which turns out to be full of aliens who actually look like clowns and wreak havoc on the people of the town. The weapons the clowns use are hilarious, but it is pretty nice to see the aliens get the people with such things as killer balloon animals and acid filled pies, its really creative. This movie is sure to give any sci-fi fan a good show. A sure to please movie for sure. Its definitely worth a watch and will be sure to leave most fans satisfied so definitely gets my recommendation. Check it out.
