Review of Knight of Cups (2015) by Garrett C — 11 Jul 2016
Terrence Malick has achieved a Walker Percy-level feat of creating perhaps the definitive statement of our generation's modern malaise. "Knight of Cups" is about being a stranger in a strange land, and taking a quest upon yourself to move from darkness to the light. I think this quote from The Moviegoer sums up this film:
"The search is what anyone would undertake if he were not sunk in the everydayness of his own life. To become aware of the possibility of the search is to be onto something. Not to be onto something is to be in despair.".
